NORAD fighter jets intercept 2 aircraft near Trump’s NJ golf club
NORAD F-16 fighter jets intercepted two civilian aircraft after they violated restricted airspace over Bedminster, New Jersey, while President Trump attended the final round of the LIV Golf New York tournament at his golf club, according to military officials.
Temporary flight restrictions were in place around Trump National Golf Club Bedminster on Sunday because the president was attending the tournament. The restrictions prohibited unauthorized aircraft from entering the protected airspace surrounding the club.
The First Air Force said two general aviation aircraft separately entered the restricted area and were intercepted by NORAD F-16 fighter jets.
Pilots intercepted by NORAD aircraft were instructed to immediately switch to emergency frequency 121.5 or 243.0 and reverse course until receiving further instructions.
NORAD asked general aviation pilots to review Notices to Airmen, known as NOTAMs, and temporary flight restrictions before every flight.
Video shared by Joey’s North Jersey Severe Weather showed a small aircraft resembling a Cessna being followed by a U.S. fighter jet over Jefferson Township during one of the incidents.
