A woman drove onto a sidewalk and tried to hit a juvenile riding a dirt bike in Spokane County, Washington, before leaving the area and being found at a stranger’s home about a mile away, according to officials.

The incident took place last Tuesday at about 6:05 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Fruitvale Road, where deputies were called for a reckless and aggressive driver, according to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office.

Cellphone video reviewed by deputies showed the silver sedan driving onto the sidewalk and chasing the juvenile before returning to the road and leaving the area. The juvenile was not hit or injured.

About 25 minutes later, deputies received a report of a possible residential burglary in the 10700 block of West Melville Road. The homeowner, who was not there, told deputies he was watching someone on a live security camera trying door handles at his home.

Deputies went to the property and found 56-year-old Wendy A. Clemente parked in the driveway in a silver Ford Focus. She was arrested at the scene.

Clemente told deputies she had taken her dog for a ride to look for other dogs to socialize with, according to the sheriff’s office. She said she saw dogs in a fenced yard and stopped, but denied knowing the homeowner or trying to enter the home.

When asked about the earlier incident on South Fruitvale Road, Clemente said she did not remember it.

Deputies said Clemente showed signs of impairment. She initially denied drinking alcohol or using drugs but later admitted to drinking.

Clemente was told she was being arrested for DUI, and deputies said she resisted while they tried to place her in a patrol car, including trying to kick a deputy. She was eventually restrained.

Deputies obtained a search warrant for a blood sample to be tested later. Clemente was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree assault, DUI and first-degree criminal trespass.

At her first court appearance the next day, Spokane County Superior Court Commissioner N. Swennumson ordered Clemente released on her own recognizance, meaning she did not have to post bond.
