President Trump said he is moving to begin releasing government files related to extraterrestrial life and UFO’s.

“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs),” Trump said in a social media post Thursday.

Fox News reporter Peter Doocy asked Trump aboard Air Force One earlier Thursday about Barack Obama’s recent comments suggesting aliens are real and whether he had seen any evidence of non-human visitors to Earth.

Trump responded: “Well he gave classified information. He’s not supposed to be doing that.” When pressed further on whether aliens are real, Trump said: “Well I don’t know if they are real or not… I don’t have an opinion about it. I might get him out of trouble by declassifying.”

Obama made the original comment during an interview with commentator Brian Tyler Cohen released Saturday, saying aliens are real but adding he had not seen them and that they were not being kept in Area 51. He later clarified the remark in a social media post.

“I was trying to stick with the spirit of the speed round, but since it’s gotten attention let me clarify,” Obama wrote. “Statistically, the universe is so vast that the odds are good there’s life out there. But the distances between solar systems are so great that the chances we’ve been visited by aliens is low, and I saw no evidence during my presidency that extraterrestrials have made contact with us. Really!”
