Missing Epstein tape minute revelation leaves more questions than answers

The one-minute missing from the surveillance footage of Jeffrey Epstein in jail before his death has surfaced. The new footage comes as part of the latest document dump and but leaves more questions than answers.

Missing minute revealed

The new footage shows nothing unusual happening during that period of time. You can only see several guards working near Epstein’s cell.

The new footage release also shows Epstein being moved through the detention center to make a phone call.

Attorney General Pam Bondi claimed that missing minute was a result of a nightly reset of the video that caused the recording system to miss one minute every night. The new video disproves that.

This new video also ends several theories about what happened during that minute and what happened to Epstein.

New questions

While the new footage answers some questions, it also raises new ones.

The files made public by Congress are missing metadata which would confirm it is raw video. Whether the video is raw footage or edited has been the subject of debate for months following reports from Wired and CBS News claiming the footage has been edited and what’s being released isn’t the raw video.

The new footage also shows a ghosting effect — described as a trail behind movement or a double image — reduced frame rate and a downgraded resolution from the FBI’s earlier high-definition release.

The on-screen text formats are also different.

Epstein’s death

Epstein reportedly committed suicide in August 2019 while in jail on sex trafficking charges.

His death and the subsequent push to release files related to the investigation on Epstein have been in the headlines ever since and gained momentum in recent months.

It’s caused a divide within the Make America Great Again movement and recently the Trump administration said any Republicans working to get the DOJ to release the files would be committing a “hostile act.”

On Wednesday, a group of Epstein victims held a press conference calling for the full release of the criminal investigative files. Those survivors said they support the group of Republicans, including Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Kent., and Rep. Marjorie Taylor-Greene, R-Ga., who are trying to get the files released.
