Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer said she is leaving the Trump administration and moving to the private sector, ending her time at the Labor Department after months of scrutiny over allegations involving a subordinate, workplace drinking and taxpayer-funded travel.

“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve in this historic Administration and work for the greatest President of my lifetime,” Chavez-DeRemer said in a statement. “While my time serving in the Administration comes to a conclusion, it doesn’t mean I will stop fighting for American workers.”

“I am looking forward to what the future has in store as I depart for the private sector,” Chavez-DeRemer added.

Her resignation comes after a report in January that the Labor Department’s inspector general was looking into complaints that Chavez-DeRemer was having an affair with a subordinate, drinking alcohol on the job and using taxpayer-funded travel to visit friends and family.

The New York Post first reported the existence of the inspector general inquiry.

Her resignation follows the departures of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and Attorney General Pamela Bondi.
