A former police officer was arrested in southern Florida after she allegedly threatened to shoot at the police station, city officials and police officers, according to authorities.

Rocquel McCray, 54, was taken into custody early Friday in Florida City, a community south of Miami, according to the Florida City Police Department. Authorities said the alleged threats were first made on social media and were immediately reported to law enforcement.

Police learned that McCray had traveled from Jacksonville to Miami International Airport on Wednesday before taking a private transportation service to Florida City.

The suspect later called the Florida City Police Department and allegedly made additional threats to shoot at the station while speaking with a dispatcher. Officers found her shortly afterward at a local restaurant.

Police said McCray resisted arrest and was taken into custody on multiple felony charges. The department did not identify the specific charges.

McCray previously worked for the Florida City Police Department, but her employment ended in 2019.
