Country singer Ella Langley cancels Tulsa concert after ‘serious security threat’
Country singer Ella Langley canceled her sold-out concert in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday after a ‘serious security threat’ was made against people attending the event, according to police.
The performance was scheduled to take place at the BOK Center as part of Langley’s Dandelion Tour. The singer announced the cancellation on social media, saying the decision was made out of concern for the safety of her fans, venue staff and team.
“Due to a serious security threat involving the safety of my fans, the venue staff, and my team, the incredibly difficult decision was made to cancel tonight’s show,” Langley wrote.
She said the decision followed advice from local authorities, the venue and her security team. “I know how much time, travel, money, and planning goes into coming to a show, and I can’t tell you how sorry I am,” Langley said. “This is not a decision that was made lightly.”
The Tulsa Police Department said officers received a call threatening the lives of people attending the concert. Police had already swept the area with K-9 units, the department’s bomb team, patrol officers and BOK Center security before the event, but found nothing dangerous.
Following the threat, officers conducted another search of the building and surrounding area. Police said they again found no evidence of a credible threat to the concert’s safety.
“We advised the performer’s staff that we found no credible threat to the event, but they decided to cancel the performance anyway,” the department said in a statement.
Police apologized to people who came to the venue and said the threat had disrupted the evening for thousands of concertgoers.
The BOK Center supported the decision to cancel, saying the safety and well-being of everyone involved remained its top priority. The venue said information about ticket refunds would be provided later.
The Tulsa Police Department said the incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information that could help investigators can contact Tulsa Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS to provide tips and potentially receive a cash reward.
Langley’s Dandelion Tour is scheduled to conclude on Oct. 31 in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
