Army Black Hawk involved in training mishap near Denver; no injuries reported
A U.S. Army MH-60 Black Hawk helicopter carrying four special operations soldiers was involved in a training mishap near Denver, Colorado, according to officials. No injuries have been reported.
The incident happened Tuesday during routine training operations on the east side of Thorodin Mountain in Gilpin County, in the mountains west of Denver.
The U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command said four special operations soldiers were aboard the MH-60 Black Hawk when the mishap occurred.
The Gilpin County Sheriff’s Office said emergency personnel responded to the scene. There was no reported fuel leak or fire following the crash.
The Army said the mishap is under active investigation. It said it takes all training incidents and the safety of its personnel seriously.
The Army’s 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, known as the Night Stalkers, is a specialized aviation unit that supports U.S. special operations forces. The regiment operates modified helicopters, including MH-60 Black Hawks, and is known for conducting missions in difficult conditions.
