Armed man arrested after monitoring security at Trump golf course in L.A.
An armed man has been arrested after allegedly monitoring security-planning activities at Trump National Golf Course in Los Angeles while taking photos and videos across the property, according to officials. A search of his home later uncovered multiple weapons.
Plainclothes federal agents reported the suspicious man at the golf course in Rancho Palos Verdes at about 3:28 p.m. Sunday. Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies responded and identified him as 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele of Downey.
Deputies determined that Taele was also under investigation for robbery by police in El Segundo. During his detention, they found a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition in his pants pocket.
Taele’s vehicle was found in a parking lot on the golf course. A search uncovered a loaded pistol with a round in the chamber and another loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.
Taele was arrested on charges of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition.
Investigators assigned to the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force searched Taele’s home in Downey on Monday. They recovered an illegally modified AR-style rifle, a .45-caliber pistol, an AR upper receiver, body armor, high-capacity magazines and bulk ammunition.
The search also uncovered two radio signal devices and multiple notebooks containing what the Sheriff’s Department described as “concerning statements.” Officials did not disclose what was written in the notebooks.
Taele remains in custody while the Sheriff’s Department, FBI and U.S. Secret Service continue to investigate.
