Airport worker critically injured after being struck by plane at Montreal airport
An airport employee was critically injured after he was reportedly struck by a plane at Montréal-Trudeau International Airport in Montreal, Canada, according to airport officials and local media reports.
The accident happened on the tarmac shortly before takeoff on Monday. Emergency measures were deployed at about 7:30 p.m. after an aircraft was involved in an accident with an airport employee, Radio-Canada reported, citing an airport spokesperson.
The employee was a ground marshaller who was struck by the plane and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, La Presse reported. Officials did not release the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
Flight-tracking data from AirNav Radar showed French Bee flight BF5761, which was scheduled to depart Montreal for Paris-Orly at 6 p.m., was delayed after the incident. The tracker identified the aircraft as an Airbus A350-900.
“We do not have any further information at the moment, including regarding the person’s sex or age,” emergency services spokesperson Valérie Guertin told the outlet. An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the accident.
