15-year-old girl charged with murder after pushing man from Chicago train
A 15-year-old girl has been charged with murder after police said she pushed a man from a moving train in Chicago, causing his death, according to authorities.
The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. Monday on a Chicago Transit Authority Red Line train near the 69th Street station on the city’s South Side, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The victim, 29-year-old Kyle Bickham, was pushed from the train during an altercation involving three people, according to police. The victim fell onto the electrified third rail, became incapacitated and was later hit by another moving train. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Police initially believed the victim had jumped from the train but said a subsequent investigation determined he had been pushed off.
His family said he had been returning home after working at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero, according to WBBM.
The girl was arrested Friday in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood and charged with first-degree murder, mob action, two counts of murder by other forcible felony and aggravated battery of a transit employee.
She appeared in juvenile court Saturday, where a judge found probable cause on all counts and ordered her held in custody.
