American Airlines plane blows 2 tires after landing at Chicago O’Hare

An American Airlines flight from New York blew two tires after landing at Chicago O’Hare International Airport, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the airline. No injuries were reported.

The incident happened at about 2 p.m. Monday when American Airlines Flight 386 arrived at O’Hare from LaGuardia Airport, according to the FAA. The crew reported that two tires were blown after landing.

“American Airlines flight 386 experienced a tire issue after landing safely at Chicago (ORD). Per procedure, first responders met the aircraft out of an abundance of caution and customers were transported safely to the terminal by bus,” the airline said.

AirNav Radar data shows that the Boeing 737-800 departed LaGuardia at 12:42 p.m. EDT and arrived in Chicago at 2:07 p.m. CDT.

“We thank our team members for their professionalism and we apologize to our customers for their experience,” American Airlines said. The FAA said it will investigate.

A similar incident occurred on Aug. 3, when Southwest Airlines Flight 1243 blew a tire after landing at Chicago Midway International Airport following a flight from Southwest Florida.
