2 officers, police K-9 injured in Virginia shooting
Two police officers and a police K-9 have been injured after responding to a shooting call in Chesterfield County, Virginia, according to officials. The suspect was also injured.
The incident happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday in the 12900 block of Gumfork Place, according to the Chesterfield County Police Department’s public call log. Police said officers were responding to a shooting call when the officers and the police canine were injured.
Police have not said whether the officers and police dog were shot or how they were injured. Their conditions have not been released.
The suspect was also injured and taken to a hospital, according to police. The suspect’s identity and condition were not immediately released.
Sources told WTVR that officers had been responding to a domestic situation.
County emergency officials told people within a one-mile radius of the address to shelter in place in an alert sent at about 5:30 p.m. The shelter-in-place alert was lifted at about 6:35 p.m., WTVR reported. Police said there is no ongoing threat to the community.
