Seven people were injured in a shooting outside a nightclub in southern Louisiana, according to local police. All of the injuries were believed to be non-life-threatening.

The shooting happened shortly after 10 p.m. on Sunday outside a nightclub near East 10th Street and Narrow Street in Thibodaux, a city in Lafourche Parish about 50 miles southwest of New Orleans.

Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue said detectives confirmed that seven people suffered gunshot-related injuries during the incident. Several other people were also injured while trying to flee the area after the shooting.

Police did not release the names or ages of the victims. No arrests were immediately announced, and officials did not provide information about a possible suspect or motive.

Detectives are processing evidence, interviewing witnesses and following up on leads, according to the Thibodaux Police Department.

DeJae’ Antrell Broomfield, who represents District 1 on the Lafourche Parish Council, said he was becoming aware of the shooting after it “impacted innocent individuals as they concluded a night of celebration.”

“My heart is with everyone affected, those who were injured, their families, and all who witnessed this tragic event,” Broomfield said.
