5 shot, 1 struck by vehicle in Chicago
Five people were shot and another was struck by a vehicle in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood, leaving three victims in critical condition, according to fire officials.
The shooting was reported at about 12:19 p.m. Sunday near West Chicago Avenue on the city’s West Side. The Chicago Fire Department said crews were called to North Homan Avenue, while another initial report placed the incident at North Christiana Avenue, about a block away.
Three of the shooting victims were taken to hospitals in critical condition, according to fire officials. Two other people who were shot were transported in fair condition.
A sixth victim, who was struck by a vehicle, was also taken to a hospital in fair condition.
Police have not released information about what led to the shooting, whether the driver of the vehicle struck the victim during the gunfire or afterward, or whether any suspects have been identified.
