Four people have been shot in Portsmouth, Virginia, according to local police. A suspect is in custody, and authorities say there is no threat to the public.
Officers responded at about 6:50 p.m. Monday to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of London Boulevard in Portsmouth, a city across the Elizabeth River from Norfolk in southeastern Virginia, according to the Portsmouth Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found two adult men and two adult women suffering from gunshot wounds. All four victims were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
The victims’ conditions were not immediately known. Police have not released their identities or details about the circumstances of the shooting.
The Portsmouth Police Department confirmed that the shooting suspect is in custody but did not identify the person. The department also said there is no threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing, and police said further details will be released as they become available.
