4 dead, including newborn and toddler, in Los Angeles murder-suicide
Four people, including a 6-day-old baby and a 2-year-old child, were found shot to death at a home in Los Angeles in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide, according to police and medical examiner records.
Officers were called at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday to a home in the 16200 block of Londelius Avenue after a report of a shooting. When they arrived, they found four people dead from gunshot wounds.
Police said they were not looking for any suspects and confirmed the case was being investigated as a murder-suicide.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner identified three of the victims as Khajag Basmajian, 31; Alec Basmajian, 2; and Ella Basmajian, who was 6 days old. A fourth victim was described as a woman in her 30s whose name was not immediately released pending notification of her family.
All four deaths were listed as occurring at a residence on Wednesday, according to medical examiner records. The manner and cause of death had not yet been released.
Evidence initially gathered at the scene suggested the mother shot the man and the two children before taking her own life, law enforcement sources told the Los Angeles Times. Police had not publicly released further details about the sequence of events.
KABC reported that Khajag Basmajian worked as a software engineer at BlackLine, a financial software company based in the Los Angeles area.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic loss,” BlackLine said in a statement to KABC. “Our hearts are with everyone impacted by this devastating situation. Out of respect for the family and the ongoing investigation, we will not be commenting further.”
