4 arrested in shooting of 49ers player Keion White
Four men have been arrested in connection with the February nightclub shooting of San Francisco 49ers player Keion White, according to police. One suspect is accused of shooting White in the leg during a confrontation inside the crowded club.
San Francisco Police Chief Derrick Lew announced the arrests Wednesday following an investigation called Operation D-Line. The operation involved more than 50 search warrants and assistance from over 250 law enforcement personnel, with arrests in California and Georgia.
The shooting happened early on February 9 at a nightclub in San Francisco’s Mission District. Lew said several suspects, some displaying firearms, confronted White before a physical altercation broke out and White was shot.
Patrons took cover and fled as gunfire erupted, according to Lew. Investigators collected surveillance footage and witness accounts to identify the people involved.
Gregory Walker, 36, of Mountain House, California, was arrested in Los Angeles on October 9. District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said he has been charged with assault with a firearm, with allegations that he personally fired at White and caused great bodily injury.
Walker also faces charges of possessing a firearm as a felon, carrying a concealed firearm as a felon and carrying a loaded firearm as a felon. Jenkins said her office filed a motion seeking to keep him in custody.
“We do believe that he poses a public safety risk given his actions in this case,” Jenkins said.
Curtis Green, 35, was arrested at his home in Irvine on October 7. Jenkins said he faces three misdemeanor charges: brandishing a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm. Both Green and Walker were booked into San Francisco County Jail on Monday.
The other two suspects, Marquis Davis and Antoine Washington, were arrested October 7 on warrants for aggravated assault and battery.
Davis, 38, was taken into custody in Atlanta. Police said a search of his residence uncovered an illegal firearm, more than 800 grams of MDMA, more than a kilogram of methamphetamine, nearly a kilogram of cocaine and nearly four kilograms (8.8 pounds) of fentanyl.
Washington, 36, was arrested in Stockton, California, where officers recovered a loaded firearm, more than 120 oxycodone pills and approximately $7,000 in cash.
Lew said police are working with prosecutors to arrange for Davis and Washington to be brought to San Francisco to face charges. Investigators are continuing to examine the motive and the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
