2 killed in shooting at AT&T store in Gulfport, Mississippi
Two people were killed in a shooting at an AT&T store in Gulfport, Mississippi, and a suspect has been taken into custody, according to officials.
The shooting was reported at about 11 a.m. at the AT&T store on Crossroads Parkway, where Gulfport police officers responded and began an investigation, according to WXXV. An image from the scene showed police tape outside the store and apparent bullet damage to a window.
Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer confirmed that two people were killed. Their identities have not yet been released.
Police have detained a suspect in connection with the shooting, but no further information about that person has been released.
A woman who was inside the store said she and another woman escaped through a back door with their children as gunfire erupted.
“Thank GOD for the employees that pushed us through the back door to get out as we were being shot at,” she wrote on social media. “It was almost us.”
The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation, and a possible motive is unknown at this time.
