1 student stabbed at high school in Oakland, California

A student has been stabbed at a high school in Oakland, California, according to authorities. The student suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The incident happened at about 10:20 a.m. on Thursday at Castlemont High School, when Oakland police and first responders were called for reports of an assault. Authorities later confirmed that a stabbing had occurred.

Officials have not identified the victim or any possible suspect, and have not said what led to the stabbing. It was not immediately clear whether the suspect is also a student.

KGO reported that the victim is a student at the school. A witness told the station they saw police arrive before two boys were led away in handcuffs, while students were told to remain in their classrooms.

A large police presence could be seen at the school following the incident.
