An employee was killed and several others were injured when a pickup truck crashed into a bakery in the Houston area, according to officials and local media.

The crash happened at about 3:12 p.m. Tuesday at a ‘Nothing Bundt Cakes’ storefront in Atascocita, an unincorporated community in Harris County, according to the Atascocita Fire Department.

Fire officials said one person inside the store was killed. KPRC reported that the victim was a young female employee.

Four other people were evaluated at the scene, including one who was taken to a hospital by ambulance, according to KPRC, citing fire officials. The person’s current condition was not immediately released.

The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were investigating a fatal crash involving a vehicle that struck a business in the 19400 block of West Lake Houston Parkway.

KPRC reported that an elderly man accidentally pressed the gas pedal and accelerated into the building. His wife was also inside the pickup truck at the time of the crash. Officials said the driver showed no signs of intoxication and was cooperating with law enforcement.

A photo from the scene showed the pickup truck inside the damaged storefront, with shattered glass, debris and collapsed interior materials around the entrance.
