Trump demands death penalty in Charlotte stabbing; Lutnick says Musk’s DOGE got it ‘backward’: Media Miss Minute

In this Media Miss Minute, President Donald Trump wants the death penalty for the man accused of stabbing a woman to death on a North Carolina train. And Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) did things “backward” under former Chair Elon Musk.

Media Miss by the left: Trump demands ‘DEATH PENALTY’ for Decarlos Brown Jr.

Trump is calling for the death penalty for Decarlos Brown Jr., the man caught on CCTV footage killing 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on a train in Charlotte, North Carolina, last month.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump called Brown an “ANIMAL” and said he “should be given a quick trial” and “only awarded THE DEATH PENALTY.”

“There can be no other option!!!” Trump added.

Attorney General Pam Bondi has used Brown as an example of someone who has benefitted from what she called “failed soft-on-crime policies.” Prior to the deadly stabbing, Brown had a history of more than a dozen arrests that included assault and armed robbery.

Media Miss by the right: Lutnick says Musk chose layoffs over cutting government waste at DOGE

U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said former Chair Elon Musk’s plan for running DOGE was “backward.”

“I thought Elon got caught up in other people’s objectives,” Lutnick said during an interview with “The Axios Show.”

Lutnick said Musk should have prioritized fighting government fraud, waste and abuse instead of immediately firing thousands of workers. During Musk’s short stint with DOGE, he fired around 200,000 federal employees across various agencies.
