Trump considers revoking Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship amid ongoing feud

President Donald Trump says he is considering revoking the United States citizenship of Rosie O’Donnell. The president took to social media on Saturday, July 12 to share his thoughts on the actress and comedian.

“Because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell is not in the best interests of our Great Country, I am giving serious consideration to taking away her Citizenship. She is a Threat to Humanity, and should remain in the wonderful Country of Ireland, if they want her. GOD BLESS AMERICA!” Trump posted.

Recently, O’Donnell went on TikTok to criticize Trump and his administration. The actress responded to the president’s Saturday post on Instagram. “This is why I moved to Ireland,” she said. ”I stand in direct opposition all he represents”.

O’Donnell moved to Ireland after the November 2024 election. The actress has said she is attempting to obtain Irish citizenship based on family lineage.

Can citizenship be revoked?

O’Donnell was born in Commack, New York. The 14th Amendment guarantees citizenship to anyone born in the United States.

On July 1, Trump threatened to deport Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. He told reporters his administration would “have to take a look at” deporting the naturalized citizen and South African native.

According to the U.S. State Department, American citizens by birth or naturalization may give up their citizenship, but only if it is done voluntarily.

Behind the feud

Trump and O’Donnell have been feuding since he was on “The Apprentice” and she was on “The View”. People magazine reported the rift began when she criticized Trump during a 2006 episode of the talk show.
