It’s a tradition unlike any other—not just the Masters golf tournament, but the Masters Champions dinner. It’s a gathering of all the Green Jacket winners a couple of days before the tournament, with the menu chosen by the previous year’s champion.
Who is choosing this year’s Masters dinner?
Scottie Scheffler has won the Masters tournament two of the last three years. A few months after his 2024 win, the hosts of the SubPar golf podcast asked him if he was thinking about 2025’s spread.
“I have thought about it a little bit; I’m wondering if I should just have the exact same menu,” Scheffler said. “I mean, it was pretty good –– it was all my favorite foods. I don’t really know what I could do differently. I think it would be kind of fun just to have the exact same food, but I haven’t put too much thought into it. We’ll see.”
What will Scheffler be serving?
Turns out Scheffler was true to his word and didn’t stray too far from his 2023 menu. The six-course meal starts with an appetizer of cheeseburger sliders “Scottie Style,” with fries on the sliders, firecracker shrimp and Texas-style chili. For the main course, Texas ribeye steak or blackened redfish with mac and cheese, jalapeño creamed corn and soy-glazed Brussels sprouts on the side. For dessert, a warm chocolate chip skillet cookie with ice cream, like 2023.
The one big twist for this year’s dinner: Scheffler added his dad’s infamous ravioli bites, an obvious nod to the dish he attempted to make from scratch on Christmas Day that led to a hand injury delaying the start of his 2025 season.
How has the injury affected Scheffler’s season?
The world’s No. 1 golfer is still recovering from that slow start. He does not have a win in the five tournaments he’s played in so far, including a 20th-place finish at The Players this past weekend.
“I walk away from this week feeling close. I feel like there’s some stuff I need to work on at home, but I feel very close overall,” Scheffler said after his final round. “I felt like I did some good things this week. I felt like I definitely could have done some other things better. But overall, don’t feel far off by any means.”
What have past champions served?
Scheffler’s play aside, the menu reveal Wednesday, March 19, brings back memories of a few of the more original choices made for the Champions dinner. As golf fans would expect, winners Sergio Garcia and Jon Rahm had a Spanish flavor for their meals. Japanese star Hideki Matsuyama served sushi and Wagyu beef. Englishman Danny Willett’s menu was decidedly British, featuring fish and chips. And South Carolina native Dustin Johnson went with pigs in a blanket, lobster fritters and filet mignon.
This year’s Masters tournament week begins April 7 at Augusta National. The traditional Champions dinner is two days before the first round of play.
