Nearly 30 years after her passing, Princess Diana’s legacy continues to captivate the world. Now, the largest-ever Princess Diana auction is set to take place this June in California.
Julien’s Auctions will host the historic sale on June 26, featuring more than 200 items from the late royal’s personal wardrobe and private collection. The Princess Diana auction will include garments, accessories, handwritten notes, and even cards she sent.
According to Julien’s, the auction will also feature rare items from other members of the royal family.
Iconic pieces on display
One of the standout garments in the Princess Diana auction is her floral Bellville Sassoon “caring dress.” She wore it during several public appearances, particularly at hospitals and visits with children. Diana intentionally chose the colorful dress to appear comforting and approachable during emotional moments.

Julien’s Co-Founder and Executive Director, Martin Nolan, told Vanity Fair that Diana was a “very personable person.” The Princess Diana auction will reflect that by including her personal letters and cards.
Royal additions
In addition to Princess Diana’s items, the auction will feature fashion from other notable royals. The collection includes garments worn by Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen Mother, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Some pieces date as far back as the 1800s.
In a media release, Nolan described the Princess Diana auction as a tribute to the late royal.
“This collection is not only the most comprehensive offering of her wardrobe ever presented, but also a tribute to her elegance, grace, glamour, and enduring spirit,” Nolan said. “Each item is a window into a moment in history.”
A legacy of giving
Interest in Princess Diana auctions remains high. In 2023, one of her gowns sold for $1.14 million. Diana wore the dress twice—once to a formal dinner in Florence, Italy, and again during an official royal tour of the country with Prince Charles.
The Princess Diana auction will go live on June 26 in Beverly Hills. Online bidding opens May 20. Before the sale, the full collection will be exhibited around the world.
The world tour begins May 1 at Seattle’s Museum of Pop Culture. From there, it will head to the Museum of Style Icons in Newbridge, Ireland.
A portion of proceeds from the Princess Diana auction will benefit Muscular Dystrophy UK. Julien’s Auctions says this contribution honors Diana’s legacy of charity and public service.
