Powerball jackpot soars past $750M for Monday night’s drawing

The odds might be astronomical, but so is the payout. Monday night’s Powerball drawing is the 10th biggest in history, worth more than $750 million.

If the future winner takes the cash value option, they could walk away with $338.6 million.

“The excitement of playing for a colossal Powerball jackpot is back!” Matt Strawn, Powerball Product Group Chair and Iowa Lottery CEO, said. “It only takes one $2 Powerball ticket to win Monday’s jackpot, and a portion of that sale will go directly to supporting programs and services that benefit local communities.”

Smaller lottery wins

No one has won the jackpot in 37 consecutive drawings. Maybe number 38 will end the streak. However, several individuals across the country won $50,000, $100,000 and even $1 million.

According to Powerball, two tickets, one sold in Maine and the other in New York, won the $1 million prize. Thirty-one people across the country won $ 50,000, and five won $100,000.

Historically high jackpots

Monday’s jackpot is the 10th highest in history, behind astronomical numbers like $842 million, $1.3 billion and the highest in history, $2.04 billion, which was sold in California in November 2022.

All 10 of the highest jackpots of all time have occurred within the last 10 years, with the earliest being in 2016.

Jackpot odds

The odds of winning the current $750 million jackpot rest at 1 in 292 million. The odds of daydreaming about winning, though? Pretty much one in one.

Somebody will get lucky eventually. The next drawing is Monday night at 10:59 p.m. ET.
