A gas explosion caused a major fire and a partial building collapse at a nursing home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, according to officials. Multiple people are believed to be trapped.
The incident occurred at around 2:15 p.m. Tuesday at the Silver Lake Nursing Home on the 900 block of Tower Road in Bristol Township. Multiple casualties have been reported, but officials have not released numbers or details about victims or injuries. The scene remains active.
“I’ve been briefed on the incident at Silver Lake Nursing Home in Bucks County, and my Administration is in contact with local officials and first responders on the ground,” Governor Josh Shapiro said. “The Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Pennsylvania State Police have offered their full support and any resources needed.”
In a separate statement, State Senator Steve Santarsiero said the explosion led to significant damage at the facility.
“This afternoon, a gas explosion caused a major fire and partial building collapse at Silverlake Nursing Home in Bristol Township. Multiple casualties have been reported, and the situation remains ongoing,” Santarsiero said.
Images from the scene showed heavy black smoke rising from the damaged structure, with sections of the building collapsed and debris scattered around the property. Firefighters and police were seen working near the entrance as flames burned inside the structure.
