A Missouri deputy was killed in a shooting in Christian County, and authorities have issued a statewide Blue Alert for a suspect vehicle, according to officials. The name of the deputy and details about the suspect or circumstances have not been released.

The alert was issued Monday afternoon after the shooting was reported at about 3:50 p.m. along southbound U.S. 160 from Route HH in Highlandville, located south of Springfield in southwestern Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Highway patrol said the alert was activated after a law enforcement officer was killed in the line of duty. Additional information states the suspect vehicle was seen in the area of a fatal shooting involving a Christian County deputy.

Authorities are searching for a white 2001 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab with Missouri license plate 9MGX36. The pickup has a silver brush guard, a rusted roof, black body trim, tinted rear windows and a three-ball hitch.

The Blue Alert system is used in Missouri to notify the public when a suspect is sought in the killing or serious injury of a law enforcement officer. The highway patrol said the alert will be updated as more information becomes available and asked anyone with information to call 911 or contact local law enforcement.
