U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar was sprayed with an unknown liquid by a man during a town hall meeting, after which the suspect was tackled by staff. Omar appeared unharmed and continued the event.

The incident occurred during a town hall meeting in Minneapolis on Tuesday. Omar appeared unharmed and remained on stage as security restrained the man and escorted him out of the room.

The man was quickly tackled, restrained, and escorted out of the room by security. Authorities have not released his identity, his current status, or a possible motive.

Omar dismissed concerns for her safety moments after the incident, telling the audience, “We will continue, these f*cking *ssholes are not going to get away with this.” Her staff later told her the substance had a strong, unpleasant smell. Omar proceeded with the town hall for approximately 20 more minutes.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Omar said, “I survived war, and I’m definitely going to survive intimidation and whatever these people think they can throw at me, because I’m built that way.”
