An FBI spokesperson confirmed that agents executed a search warrant Wednesday at the elections office in Fulton County, Georgia, according to multiple sources. The office is just south of Atlanta.

The spokesperson told The Associated Press that agents had executed a “court authorized law enforcement action” at Fulton County’s main election office located in the suburb of Union City.

Fox News reported that agents were seen entering the Fulton County Election Hub and Operation Center. The facility, designed to streamline election processes, opened in 2023.

“The FBI agents are here to get the 2020 ballots,” Fulton County Court Clerk Che Alexander told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “They’re all here — trucks, everything.”

Alexander told the newspaper agents were taking boxes of 2020 ballots from a warehouse where they had been stored.

A search warrant obtained by the Journal-Constitution showed that agents were seeking all physical ballots from the 2020 election, including absentee ballots and the envelopes they arrived in; tabulator tapes for every voting machine; all ballot images produced when ballots were counted; and voter rolls from the 2020 election.

Fulton County’s election history

President Donald Trump has long claimed — without evidence — that he actually won Georgia in the 2020 presidential race. Before Congress certified Joe Biden as the winner, Trump placed a phone call to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in which he asked that the official “find” enough votes to change the outcome. Biden had won the state by fewer than 12,000 votes.

Numerous investigations found no evidence of significant irregularities in Fulton County, Georgia’s most populous county, or the state at large. But Trump has continued to assert that Democrats stole the election.

Last week, the AP reported, Trump said that “people will soon be prosecuted for what they did,” referring to the 2020 election. It wasn’t clear what exactly he meant.

In December 2025, the Civil Rights Division of the Department of Justice sued the clerk of the Fulton County superior and magistrate courts seeking access to documents from the 2020 election. The clerk, Alexander, has filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, AP reports.
