Drone strike hits Kuwait airport radar system; no injuries reported
A drone strike hit a radar system at Kuwait International Airport, causing damage but no reported injuries, Kuwait’s civil aviation authority said. It was the second strike on the airport since the U.S.-Israel war against Iran began.
Kuwait’s General Directorate of Civil Aviation said several drones targeted the airport and struck its radar system. Spokesman Abdullah Al Rajhi said the incident was handled under the emergency plan that has been in place since the start of the conflict.
The authority said no casualties were reported and said it continues to take all necessary measures to protect civil aviation safety in Kuwait, the small Gulf nation across from Iran that hosts U.S. military forces.
The airport was also hit on Feb. 28, the first day of the war. Kuwait’s civil aviation authority said at the time that a drone strike caused minor injuries to several workers and limited damage to Terminal 1.
Kuwait was also the site of an Iranian drone strike on March 1 that killed six U.S. personnel and wounded dozens more.
