Colombian singer Yeison Jiménez among 6 killed in plane crash near Bogotá
Colombian regional music singer Yeison Jiménez was among six people killed in a plane crash near Bogotá, according to local media reports.
The crash occurred on Saturday in the area between Paipa and Duitama, according to a statement from Colombia’s Aerocivil. The aircraft, registered as N325FA, was carrying six occupants, including a pilot, a co-pilot, and four passengers, and was en route to Medellín.
Local media outlets reported that all six people aboard the aircraft were killed, including Yeison Jiménez. Authorities did not immediately confirm the cause of the crash.
Aerocivil said the Search and Rescue Coordination Center (SAR) in Bogotá detected the activation of the aircraft’s emergency locator transmitter (ELT) in the area of the crash. National Police personnel and local emergency services could be seen working at the site.
Jiménez was a prominent figure in Colombia’s regional popular music scene, known for songs that garnered millions of streams on digital platforms and a large following across the country. He had built a national career over the past decade and was considered one of the genre’s most recognizable voices.
Jiménez said in an interview last year that he had experienced recurring dreams about dying in a plane crash.
