Chicago delivery driver escapes immigration agents in viral chase video

A few videos posted online show a delivery driver escaping at least 10 immigration agents in Chicago on Sunday, according to reports. The viral clip is roughly 17 seconds long.
In it, the agents are seen chasing a cyclist who manages to slip away by jumping on his bike and pedaling off. He quickly changes direction and escapes by riding away, leaving the federal officers trailing behind on foot.
The full video, also posted online, is about 28 seconds in length and provides a broader view of the altercation. In it, you can hear the cyclist scream an expletive at the officers, who are seen standing on a nearby downtown Chicago street. The cyclist drops his phone, and the officers attempt to apprehend him, but he manages to escape.
The clip quickly gained traction online, with many users mocking the federal agents’ failed chase.
Tensions grow amid immigration crackdown
The altercation comes while federal agents are cracking down on immigration in the Chicago area.
On Friday, SAN reported on a protest against such actions at a federal immigration facility in a Chicago suburb. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said a crowd of 200 “rioters” was blocking the entrances and exits to the facility.
That’s when agents from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, as well as Border Patrol, used chemical crowd-control weapons — like tear gas and pepper balls — on demonstrators in order to disperse the crowd.
Trump responds to ongoing protests
The confrontation, which lasted several hours, occurred between federal authorities and protesters. The clash is the latest in a series of confrontations that have taken place since a wave of immigration enforcement began earlier this month.
President Donald Trump posted to Truth Social Sunday afternoon, reposting a video of a confrontation between federal agents and protesters in Chicago, writing: “Border Patrol will take no nonsense.”
