Media Miss by the left: California will monitor DOJ election monitors for Nov. 4 special election
California Attorney General Rob Bonta says the state will send its own observers to monitor Department of Justice (DOJ) election monitors during next Tuesday’s special redistricting election.
California Republicans requested the DOJ monitors. However, Bonta said state officials are concerned that federal election monitors — sent by the Trump administration — could be used to intimidate voters or influence election results.
The move comes amid heightened political tension over voting access and election integrity ahead of 2026’s midterms.
Media Miss by the right: Amnesty International calls for war crimes investigation into US airstrike
Amnesty International is calling for a war crimes investigation into a U.S. airstrike on a prison in Yemen. The organization said the strike back in April “inflicted catastrophic civilian harm” and “amounted to an indiscriminate attack” against a civilian target.
Officials estimate the strike killed at least 68 civilian prisoners. Most of them were being detained only temporarily for minor immigration violations.
Amnesty said it came to the conclusion after conducting in-depth interviews with civilian survivors and reviewing satellite imagery and photographic evidence. The U.S. has not publicly responded to the report.
