Air Force One carrying U.S. President Trump is returning to Joint Base Andrews after the crew identified a minor electrical issue shortly after takeoff, the White House said.

“After takeoff, the AF1 crew identified a minor electrical issue. Out of an abundance of caution, AF1 is returning to Joint Base Andrews,” the White House said late Tuesday.

A reporter traveling with the press pool said the lights in the press cabin briefly went out shortly after takeoff, though no explanation was provided at the time.

Trump and his team are expected to board a different aircraft and continue their trip to Switzerland, according to the White House.

Trump is traveling to Switzerland to attend the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. The trip is his first international visit of 2026 and his first in-person appearance at the forum since 2020.

He is scheduled to deliver a speech at the forum on Wednesday.
