Four people were killed and about 15 others were injured in three separate shootings in Dallas’ Deep Ellum nightlife district, according to police. Authorities have not established whether the incidents were connected.

The shootings happened early Sunday in Deep Ellum, an entertainment district just east of downtown Dallas, Police Chief Daniel Comeaux said at a briefing.

Comeaux said the shootings occurred over a period of time, with approximately 30 minutes to an hour between at least two of the incidents.

“At this time, we have no information that they are related, but we’re still doing an investigation to try to figure that out,” Comeaux said of the three incidents.

The chief confirmed that four people died across the three scenes and approximately 15 others were injured. He said the injury count could change because some victims took themselves to hospitals.

Comeaux did not provide details about the conditions of the injured but said officers’ lifesaving efforts revived one injured person.

Police are interviewing witnesses and several people who were arrested. Authorities are still determining how those arrested may be connected to the shootings.

The chief said additional officers had been assigned to the area for Halloween and Saturday night crowds. He described a large crime scene spread across multiple locations.

Police asked anyone with videos, photographs or relevant social media material to provide it to investigators.

“This is completely unacceptable for it to take place in Dallas, and we’re going to do everything that we need to do to get everyone in custody that’s responsible for this,” Comeaux said.

Deep Ellum is an entertainment neighborhood just east of downtown Dallas, covering roughly half a square mile. It is home to more than 400 businesses, including bars, restaurants, live music venues, independent shops and art galleries.
