Actor RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter White Jr. on “Breaking Bad,” has died in Texas, his representatives said. He was 34 years old.

His representatives confirmed the death Monday and said he died in Brownsville, a city near the Mexican border in southern Texas, according to Deadline. They did not disclose a cause of death.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ Mitte,” his representatives said.

TMZ reported that Mitte died by suicide. Law enforcement officials told the outlet that the death investigation remains ongoing.

Mitte played the teenage son of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White and Anna Gunn’s Skyler White on the AMC series, which aired from 2008 to 2013. His character, also known as Flynn, became one of his most recognizable roles.

Mitte had cerebral palsy, as did his character on “Breaking Bad.” He spoke publicly about living with the condition, which affects movement and posture, and his experiences growing up with a disability.

Beyond acting, he advocated for disability rights and greater representation of people with disabilities in film and television. His work included promoting opportunities for disabled performers and speaking out against bullying.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis related to suicide, mental health or substance use, call or text the U.S. Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988 to speak with a counselor in your area.
