Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure have continued after President Trump announced an immediate energy ceasefire, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump announced the ceasefire on Sunday in a social media post, saying Russia and Ukraine had both agreed to it. He did not provide details about its terms.

“Effective immediately, there is an ENERGY CEASEFIRE in the War between Russia and Ukraine,” Trump wrote. “Both parties have agreed. Do not break it!”

“This is good news for everyone, and it is important that it become reality,” Zelenskyy said of Trump’s announcement.

The Ukrainian president said his country’s armed forces have received the appropriate orders and that he expected Russia to follow through.

“Unfortunately, Ukrainian skies have been infested with Russian “shaheds” all day today,” Zelenskyy said later in a statement. “There have been glide bomb strikes and strikes on our energy infrastructure too. A power plant in Kharkiv was attacked this evening.”

Earlier Sunday, Zelenskyy discussed the announcement with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Finnish President Alexander Stubb and NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte. He said Ukraine supported the ceasefire and that Russia needed to support it as well.

Trump announced a separate diesel agreement with Russia on Friday after a phone call with President Vladimir Putin. He said Russia would initially supply more than 300,000 tons of diesel, with additional shipments to follow.

Trump has repeatedly blamed Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries for higher U.S. diesel prices and called for Ukraine to choose a new leader.

“I think it’s time for Ukraine to get a new president,” Trump said.

Zelenskyy responded during an interview broadcast Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” saying Ukraine would organize elections if Russia agreed to a complete 60-day ceasefire.
