8 injured in overnight shooting at club in Columbia, South Carolina

Eight people were injured in an overnight shooting at a club in Columbia, South Carolina, according to authorities.

Deputies were called at about 1 a.m. Sunday for reports of gunfire in the 2700 block of Decker Boulevard, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. Two people with gunshot wounds were found at the scene and taken to a hospital by paramedics.

As deputies investigated, they learned that six additional gunshot victims had already been taken to area hospitals, bringing the total number of wounded to eight.

The shooting happened in the area of the Fashion Place shopping mall, not far from Columbia Place Mall in Dentsville, an unincorporated community northeast of Columbia.

Authorities have not released the conditions of the victims or said whether anyone has been arrested. No information was immediately available about the suspect or suspects, a possible motive, or what led to the shooting.
