5 found dead at Oregon property; homicide investigation underway
Five people have been found dead at a rural property in Oregon, according to officials. The discovery was made after firefighters responded to reports of a vehicle fire at the property.
Deputies were called at 5:27 a.m. Saturday to 47350 NW Otis Lane in unincorporated Washington County, outside Forest Grove, after a 911 caller reported a vehicle fire in the area, according to the sheriff’s office.
Firefighters found human remains and called deputies to the scene. Responders later found five people dead at the property, along with several domestic animals. Authorities have not said where the bodies were found or how the victims died.
“We’re still actually working to determine who the people are and what their connection may be,” Detective Shannon Wilde said in a briefing.
Wilde said no one is in custody. Authorities said they do not believe the deaths were the result of a random act of violence.
The property is in a rural area with dense vegetation, hills and forested land, Wilde said. Detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the county’s Major Crimes Team are continuing the investigation.
