Far-right activist Jake Lang and several other people have been arrested after two vehicles drove onto a sidewalk toward protesters during clashes between opposing groups at Minneapolis City Hall, according to police. Three officers and a civilian were injured.

The incident happened at about 11:50 a.m. on Saturday near Minneapolis City Hall, where Lang arrived with others in two vehicles. Police said both vehicles drove onto the sidewalk in front of City Hall and toward a crowd before officers moved in to get them out of the area.

Officers tracked the vehicles after they left City Hall. With assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol, one vehicle was stopped near Washington Avenue and Interstate 35W, while Bloomington police stopped the other near Lindau Lane and IKEA Way.

All occupants of both vehicles, including Lang, were arrested on probable cause of riot, and both vehicles were impounded. Four additional arrests were made outside City Hall.

Three Minneapolis police officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, including one who was hospitalized. A civilian was also injured, but the circumstances were not immediately known.

A chemical irritant was deployed during the clashes, though Police Chief Bill Peterson said there was no information suggesting it had been deployed by Minneapolis police officers.

Lang was previously charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol, including allegations that he assaulted police officers. His case was dismissed after President Trump ordered broad pardons and the dismissal of pending January 6 cases in January 2025.
