An autopsy has found no signs of trauma that contributed to the death of actress Hayden Panettiere, who was found unresponsive at a South Carolina residence on Sunday, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. The cause and manner of death remain pending.

At about 1:51 p.m., emergency services were called to a reported cardiac arrest at a residence at 701 Easley Bridge Road in Greenville, where Panettiere had been temporarily staying. First responders found her unresponsive and in cardiac arrest.

Paramedics attempted advanced cardiac life support measures, but resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful. Panettiere, 36, was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.

The coroner’s office and Greenville Police Department are conducting a joint investigation. The coroner said no trauma was found during Monday’s autopsy, while a police spokesperson told People that a preliminary investigation had found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen,” her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a statement shared by her agent.

Panettiere was best known for playing Claire Bennet in NBC’s “Heroes” and Juliette Barnes in the ABC and CMT drama “Nashville.”

Her film credits included “Remember the Titans,” “Bring It On: All or Nothing” and the “Scream” franchise, while she voiced Kairi in the “Kingdom Hearts” video game series and played Samantha Giddings in the interactive horror game “Until Dawn.”

In a recent interview on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Panettiere spoke about difficult experiences growing up in the entertainment industry. She described being led by someone she trusted into a room on a boat where a “very famous” man was waiting and sexual acts were expected.

“By the time I’d realized I was in danger, I was quite literally out to sea,” Panettiere said.

Born on Aug. 21, 1989, Panettiere would have turned 37 on Friday. She was the mother of one daughter, Kaya.
