A barricaded suspect has fired at police officers in Glendale, Arizona, and several police vehicles have been hit, according to authorities. The suspect remains inside the home as the standoff continues.

The incident is unfolding in a neighborhood near Glendale and 75th avenues. Neighbors in the area have been told to shelter in place.

Glendale police said the suspect has discharged a weapon at officers, but did not release information about the circumstances that led to the barricade situation. The suspect has not been identified.

Aerial footage from KSAZ showed a two-story home with extensive damage to its front and dozens of apparent bullet holes in windows and exterior walls. SWAT teams were seen using a battering ram in an attempt to enter the house.

A KSAZ reporter who was arriving at the scene reported taking cover as gunshots rang out.

Police have deployed tear gas and are flying drones around the home as the operation continues. “This is still an active scene,” Glendale police said.
