Two people have been critically injured in a shooting at an elementary school on Chicago’s Southwest Side, according to fire officials.

The shooting was reported at about 3:50 p.m. Monday at Mark Twain Elementary School in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood, WMAQ reported, citing the Chicago Fire Department. The school is located in the 5100 block of South Lotus Avenue, near West 52nd Street.

Both victims were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Their identities and the circumstances leading up to the shooting have not been released.

There are reports that the victims are two custodians who work at the school, but authorities have not confirmed that information. Chicago Public Schools is not currently in session.

Video from the scene showed police tape blocking off part of the school’s parking lot as officers investigated, according to WLS. There was no immediate information about a suspect or whether anyone had been taken into custody.
