Man sentenced for bomb threat at New Orleans airport over parking dispute
A Louisiana man who called in a bomb threat to New Orleans’ main airport after a dispute over parking fees has been sentenced to one year of probation, according to federal prosecutors.
Corey Johnson, 36, of Alexandria, pleaded guilty last week to willfully conveying a bomb threat, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana.
The incident happened on November 7, 2025, at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, where prosecutors said Johnson became involved in a dispute with airport personnel while trying to leave a parking lot.
The dispute escalated until deputies with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office were called to respond. Prosecutors said Johnson left the area visibly upset and then twice called AVCOM, the airport’s operations center.
During the calls, Johnson claimed there was a bomb in the airport and threatened to harm the operator, according to court documents.
Investigators with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the FBI connected the calls to the earlier parking dispute and identified Johnson as the person responsible. He was later arrested.
Prosecutors said Johnson admitted during the investigation that he had made the calls.
He was sentenced to one year of probation after pleading guilty.
