Tesla Cybertruck gets stuck in Texas lake after driver tries Wade Mode
A Tesla Cybertruck became stranded in a Texas lake after the driver entered the water to use the vehicle’s Wade Mode feature, according to police. The passengers got out safely, and the driver was arrested.
The incident happened on Monday at Grapevine Lake, northwest of Dallas, where officers and firefighters were called after the Cybertruck became disabled in the water, according to the Grapevine Police Department.
Police said the driver had driven into the lake to use Wade Mode, a Tesla feature designed to help the Cybertruck move through shallow water by raising the suspension and preparing the vehicle for brief water crossings. The feature is not intended for deep water or prolonged submersion.
A photo from the scene showed the silver Cybertruck partially submerged several yards from shore, with water reaching above the lower doors and surrounding the front and rear wheels.
“The passengers abandoned the vehicle and the driver was arrested,” police said.
Police did not identify the driver, say how many passengers were inside, or specify the charge. No injuries were immediately reported.
