Sen. Mark Warner’s daughter dies at 36 after long battle with juvenile diabetes
U.S. Sen. Mark Warner said his daughter, Madison, has died at the age of 36 after what he described as a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues.
Warner, a Virginia Democrat, announced her death Monday in a joint statement with his wife, Lisa Collis.
“We are heartbroken beyond words by the passing of our beloved daughter, Madison, 36, after a decades-long battle with juvenile diabetes and other health issues,” Warner and Collis said. “She filled our lives with love and laughter, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void.”
The couple said they were grateful for the support of friends and family as they deal with the loss.
Vice President JD Vance offered condolences in a post on social media, saying: “Our prayers are with Sen. Warner, his daughter, and their whole family. What a terrible loss at such a young age. May God comfort them.”
Juvenile diabetes, more commonly known as type 1 diabetes, is a chronic disease in which the pancreas produces little or no insulin. It is often diagnosed in childhood or adolescence and requires lifelong treatment.
