Woman accused of shooting at Rihanna’s home identified
A woman accused of opening fire at Rihanna’s home in Beverly Hills has been identified as 35-year-old Ivana Lisette Ortiz. Police said the shots were fired with an AR-15-style rifle, while Rihanna, A$AP Rocky and their children were inside the home at the time but were not injured.
The shooting happened Sunday afternoon, when a woman drove to the property and fired between seven and nine rounds from what police described as an AR-15-style rifle, according to NBC Los Angeles, citing the Los Angeles Police Department.
Footage from the scene showed what appeared to be bullet holes in the front gate of the singer’s home, while previous reporting indicated that at least one round may have penetrated the mansion.
Ortiz was arrested about 30 minutes after the initial 911 call, according to the Los Angeles Times, which reported that officers tracking the suspect from a helicopter followed her vehicle to a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks, where she was taken into custody.
TMZ reported that Ortiz was booked on attempted murder and remained in custody with bail set at $10,225,000.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Ortiz is from Orlando and had previous arrests in Florida, including on suspicion of careless driving, domestic violence and battery.
Ortiz had posted a message directed at Rihanna’s social media account about two weeks before the shooting, writing: “@badgalriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.”
It was not clear whether Ortiz had any connection to Rihanna or what motivated the shooting.
