Since President Donald Trump began his second term, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has seen a 950% increase in agreements with local law enforcement agencies to assist with federal immigration arrests.
According to ICE data, as of late January, more than 1,100 agencies had officers trained to assist ICE — up from 135 during President Joe Biden’s administration.
Media Miss by the right: Noem’s use of Coast Guard resources strains relationship
Multiple outlets reported that Secretary Kristi Noem’s relationship with the Coast Guard has become strained as she directs the service to devote more resources to deportation missions.
NBC News reported flight-monitoring data shows more than 750 Coast Guard flights have been reassigned to support deportation operations in recent months.
