Border czar weighs in on ICE mask debate; Epstein scrutiny widens
In this Media Miss Minute, U.S. Border Czar Tom Homan weighs in on whether immigration enforcement agents should be allowed to wear masks during operations. Plus, new attention surrounding the release of the Epstein files is prompting questions and consequences for high-profile individuals.
Media Miss by the left: Homan defends masked ICE agents amid threat spike
As Democrats push to ban immigration enforcement agents from wearing masks, Border Czar Tom Homan is defending the practice.
“Look, you know, I don’t like the masks either, but because threats against ice officers, you know, are up over 1,500%, actual assaults, and threats are up over 8,000%, these men and women have to protect themselves,” Homan said in an interview with CBS News on Sunday.
Democrats say they will not compromise on that demand – or others, including requiring body cameras – before agreeing to a funding bill to reopen the Department of Homeland Security.
Media Miss by the right: Epstein file release renews scrutiny
The Justice Department’s release of millions of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein has reignited scrutiny of high-profile figures who maintained contact with him after his conviction.
That includes Goldman Sachs’ top attorney Kathryn Ruemmler – who has faced pressure over her past association with Epstein – not over allegations of criminal wrongdoing, but over the relationship itself.
Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has also faced questions – from members of Congress – over a 2012 visit to Epstein’s private island.
